I should probably mention that this costume has made it's debut.  Scott first debuted it at Can't Stop the Serenity screening in Minneapolis at the end of June, 2008.  The suspenders worked really well.  They aren't perfect, but they give the idea.  I found a cheap belt at Goodwill and made up a holster out of some brown vinyl I had lying around.  It's pretty elementary, but hey, it's a costume, right?  We couldn't find a gun that looked very good, so we settled for a silly laser gun that had an approximate grip.  At events, he can't really unholster his gun anyway, so it worked just fine. 

 

The boots, I found online.  I couldn't spend very much money, but I found a pair of "pirate boots" that will work just fine.  They're pretty sad looking, but they'll work for now.  Someday, we'll get some good jedi boots for him that'll also work for Mal. 

 

 

Last night, I bought suspenders found on Amazon.  They were cheap, and they'll work fine for now.  I'm sure I'll get them, then start adding to them.  We'll see if I have time to work on the pants today.  Probably not.

 

 

Went to the fabric store today to buy a ton of fabric.  I found some pants material.  It was a little too khaki for me (I was looking for a more tan), but it'll work out just fine.  I bought brown grosgrain ribbon for the stripes.  I figured I'd run stitches vertically and that would give the impression well.  We'll see.  I hope the buttons I got will work out fine.  I don't have the kind of machine to do the fancy denim buttons.  I need to get suspenders.

 

I washed the fabric when I got home.  It's a little more lightweight than I expected (after the wash), but it's what I got.  So, we'll see how it works. 

 

 

I bought that Laughing Moon pattern.  It arrived in the mail this week.  I'll start making them up when I get moved into my new place.  I sure hope I can get them done in time for the summer.

 

 

I found a pair of pants online at Amazon, but not in his size.  I found a Laughing Moon pattern that might just work.  I'll keep looking.  I bought him a pair of boots.  I'll post pics when I feel like it.  :)

 

 

I haven't bought anything for this costume yet, but am doing the research.  I looked for suitable pants, suspenders, and boots, but haven't found anything cheap enough.  So, I'll keep on trying.  The pants look to be the most difficult.  I'll make them, I think.  I know he has a shirt already that'll work.  So, that takes care of that.  We'll see if I can figure out a holster, too.  I'm not sure yet if I'll do a coat.
